Picky Puppies! ~ Nirsoja Nelijalkaisia

Most people know that instead of human kids, we have four legged types as our babies. Two Italian Greyhounds and one Border Terrier. Nelli, the terrier girl, is really old, she does not complain about much other than not having enough food, she forgets she ate the second she walks away from her food bowl. The two little Iglets though seem to be picky about lots of things. We can pretty much narrow this down to Louie, he is the main culprit for lots of the complaints at our house, starting from food and where to go potty, weather and now the latest complain was that his $70 harness that is the top of the line and which I bought for both of them, is not pleasing enough for our little dictator.

When going for a walk and putting the harness on, he started walking stretching his back out like to avoid touching the harness, and we totally fell into it thinking it is hurting him and we have to buy them new harnesses... cause you know they can't wear different harnesses... matchy matchy... So I asked for some recommendations and was told to get the fabric ones made by one lady who happens to be on a vacation. Usually not a big problem, but since we are on the move with our RV, I couldn't wait for them being shipped to our house after her vacation, since we will be leaving probably before the possible return from  her vacation. So I looked at her design and not to try to copy it, but to get working easy and comfy harnesses to my pups, I decided to make them myself. So I went the next morning to buy some fabric and cut old ends of curtains to make a still and got to work. The making of the still took longer than making the harnesses. The biggest difficulties I had with the webbing that is on the both sides, (since the harnesses are reversible with solid color corduroy on the other side) the placing was easy enough and in theory it is pretty straightforward, but when trying to keep the webbing on both sides of the fabric from moving when sewing it, that was were I used my ripper the most.

So the harnesses got done pretty fast and I have to say that I was glad to have something for Louie that definitely is not going to rub or irritate him and something for Pixie to match her brother. So low and behold, the time to go for a walk comes and what does Louie do??? Walks just like we just dressed him with prickly pear coat. I decided at that point that he is just protesting against us violating his nudist's nature by dressing him into any harness. So he walks half of the walk crooked like with the other harness, until he forgets to pretend he is supposed to look like he is suffering. Rest of the walk he looks regal like this breed should. Stinker! Oh well, got two cool harnesses for them and they are comfy and sort of fashionable. :)

Useimmat ihmiset tietävät, että meillä ei ole ihmislapsia, vaan nelijalkaisia vauvoja. Kaksi Italian Vinttikoiraa ja yksi Borderterrieri. Nelli, terrieri tyttö on todellakin vanha, eikä valittele pahemmin muusta kuin ruoan vähyydestä, sillä hän unohtaa syöneensä heti kun siirtyy ruokakulhonsa luota pois. Itskulaiset tosin tuntuvat sitten olevan nirsoja vähän joka asiasta. Tosin tässäkin asiassa voimme osoittaa sormella primadonna Louieta, hän yleensä on se joka nirsoilee yhdestä jos toisestakin asiasta, alkaen ruoasta, missä käydä pissalla, säästä ja nyt viimeisin valituksen aihe on hänen $70  suht uudet valjaat, jotka oli tarkoitus olla parhaasta päästä, eivät nyt sitten miellytäkkään pikku diktaattoriamme.

 Kävelylle lähtiessämme hän alkoi venyttämään selkäänsä, ikäänkuin varoakseen koskemasta valjaita ja me tietenkin totaalisesti uskoimme että valjaat satuttavat häntä ja nyt pitäisi sitten ostaa uudet valjaat molemmille koirille... kun eihän niillä voi olla erilaisia valjaita... peppu ja paita... tai peppu ja peppu. Joten minä kysyin hieman suosituksia ja minut ohjattiin nettisivuille, jonka omistaja valmisti valjaita kankaasta, mutta sattui juurikin nyt olemaan hyvin ansaitulla lomalla. Normaalisti tämä ei olisi varsinainen ongelma, mutta meidän on tarkoitus lähteä taas asuntoautoinemme matkaan ennen kuin hän palaa lomaltaan, ja matkalle postittaminen on hankalaa. Katsoin hänen valjaitaan ja päätin itse valmistaa koirilleni samantapaiset. Seuraavana aamuna kangaskauppaan ostamaan kankaita ja suitsait kotiin tekemään kaavoja vanhoista verhon lopuista. Kaavojen teko kestikin paljon kauemmin kuin valjaiden ompelu, ainoa hankaluus oli polyesteri nauhan paikallaan pitäminen, sillä molemminpäin käytettävien valjaiden (sisäpuolella on yksivärinen vakosametti) molemmilla puolilla kulkee nauha, jonka olisi tietenkin tarkoitus olla samassa kohdassa, mutta tahtoi neulottaessa luistaa alapuolelta karkuun. Ratkojaa tarvittiin pariinkin otteeseen.

Valjaat valmistuivat aika nopeasti ja olin tyytyväinen että Louiella oli jotain mikä ei takuuvarmasti kalvaisi ja hiertäisi ja Pixiellä myös samanlainen kuin veljellään. Joten kun aika lähteä lenkille tulee tietenkin laitamme uudet valjaat ja mitäs Louie tekee??? Kävelee ihan yhtä kierossa ja venytellen kuin edellisenkin valjaan kohdalla, aivan kuin olisin kaktuksista virkannut puseron hänelle. Tulin siihen tulokseen, etta Louie protestoi vain hänen nudistin luonnettaan loukkaavia vetimiä vastaan. Puolet lenkistä kuluu kieroillen kunnes hän unohtaa näytellä kärsivää. Loput matkasta sipsutellaan sirpakalla askelluksella, kuten tämän rodun kuuluukin. Senkin haisuli! Saatiinpahan ainakin hienot valjaat jotka toimivat todella hyvin ja ovat mukavat ja tavallaan myös muodikkaan. :)
